Red, White & Blue

Today was "Patriotic" day at school, so since Olivia was wearing the colors, she felt that the rest of us should too. She has no clue why it was that day, I'm sure they don't discuss it in school. Could you imagine the questions and the fear you would put into a 6yo., when life to them is guarded and fun? I couldn't imagine growing up and knowing that something like that could actually happen in this country.

Where were you? Where were you when it all happened? I bet you remember. I do, I was at my parents house, don't remember why, cause I was staying there and Rich was in Ohio working. I was not far along pregnant with Olivia at the time. I remember watching the tv trying to figure out what exactly was going on. Did a plane really have a malfunction or that bad of a miscue? Then clearly after the second one, it was neither, but I still couldn't figure out what was happening, after all, that doesn't happen in this country. Then I heard that there was a plane flying around in Pa. No, surely not here, I'm safer in Pa. than anywhere else. What would someone possibly want to fly into in Pa. in the country for that matter? I had talked to Rich and he thought I was nuts about the plane in Pa., thinking that same thing about the country. Well ,we all now know why that plane was there and what happened. Being pregnant, I kept thinking, "I am really going to bring a baby into this world and we are being attacked". Just my luck, I wait this long to meet Mr.Right, finally am having my first baby and we got planes flying around and running into things! The world did change.

I remember wondering what those poor, poor people were thinking falling out the windows with no where else to go. What do you possibly think before jumping? How insanely horrible. We have a airport not far from us, so there are planes flying over all the time. On a bad weather day, they fly really low, low enough that you can see what animal is on the tail of a Frontier airline plane, and I look at the size and wonder what it would have been like to see that coming at your window..........................

chills.

we were in stone harbor on vaca with another couple at the time. her and i were up already (while our husbands were still sleeping) watching Matt Lauer and Katie Couric after the 1st plane hit. We wonke the guys and watched the 2nd.

It was crazy being away from HOME (the city) at a time like that and esp on vaca. Vaca is supposed to be happy but we were scared.

Aiden 'knows' what happened that day, bc i think it was last yr. I was again watching the Today show as (5oclock somehwere guy? escaping me) was singing a song he wrote about 911 abd i was blubbering. i had to explain to him why. :(

I lost a college classmate that day (compared to other pp). He had made something of himself, got a great job at Cantor Fitzg.

So sad.
